This book evokes a Lisbon that has partly disappeared, a Lisbon that began a movement of cosmopolization in the late 1980s. It is the Lisbon of taverns and eateries, of the closing of historic cinemas, of the beginning of nightlife in Bairro Alto, of freedom in the mythical Frágil, of Portuguese rock bands, of encounters and missed connections in the era of telephone booths, of the great fire in Chiado, of the last tailors, of the first urban reconstructions surgically preserving the facades.
